Due to its affiliation with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Beaulieu Padel has adopted the LTA Code of Conduct and adapted it where appropriate to reflect the requirements of the Beaulieu Padel Centre.

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of conduct and disciplinary policies for all participants involved in padel tennis and related activities at the Beaulieu Padel Centre.

Am I Covered by This Code of Conduct?

This Code of Conduct applies to all participants in the Game, including:

• Players

• Parents and guardians

• Coaches

• Officials

• Volunteers

• Player Support Persons

• Spectators involved with organised activities

The Code applies whenever participants are engaging or participating in the Game, both on and off the court.

What Is the Purpose of This Code of Conduct?

The purpose of this Code is to set out the standards of conduct expected of all participants.

These standards reflect:

• Beaulieu Padel and the LTA's vision to open padel tennis up to everyone.

• Beaulieu Padel and the LTA's mission to grow tennis by making it more relevant, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable.

• Beaulieu Padel and the LTA's requirements for Inclusion Strategy.

• Generally recognised standards of good sporting behaviour, integrity and discipline.

Which Standards Apply to Me?

The Code is arranged so that:

• Standards applying to all participants are listed first.

• Additional standards then apply to specific participant groups such as players, coaches and Player Support Persons.

All participants are responsible for ensuring they understand the standards that apply to them. Lack of awareness will not be accepted as a reason for non-compliance.

What Are the Consequences of Non-Compliance?

Failure to comply with this Code may constitute:

• Misconduct

• Prohibited Conduct

• A breach of contractual obligations

• A breach of other applicable regulations

Where appropriate, Beaulieu Padel may commence disciplinary proceedings or take other appropriate action.

Standards of Conduct for All Participants

Every participant must:

1. Conduct themselves, and ensure anyone supporting, working with or assisting them (including Player Support Persons), behaves professionally, appropriately and in accordance with the highest standards of integrity and sportsmanship.

2. Help create a safe, inclusive, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable environment on and off the court.

3. Treat all participants, including officials, fairly and with respect.

4. Encourage others to respect one another and behave with integrity.

5. Not verbally, physically or emotionally abuse another participant.

6. Not behave in a violent, threatening, intimidating, harassing or deliberately provocative manner, or in any way intended or reasonably perceived to offend, insult, humiliate, ridicule or cause fear.

7. Value diversity and not unlawfully discriminate against anyone on the grounds of:

o Age

o Disability

o Gender reassignment

o Marriage or civil partnership

o Pregnancy or maternity

o Race

o Religion or belief

o Sex

o Sexual orientation

8. Not act in any way that is unsporting, detrimental to the integrity of the Game or likely to bring the Game, another participant, Beaulieu Padel, the LTA, or its commercial partners into disrepute.

9. Not use language or communications (including emails, social media, messaging apps or online platforms) that breach any standard contained within this Code.

10. Not use audible obscenities or make obscene gestures while participating in or attending the Game.

11. Take responsibility for their own actions and not condone behaviour that breaches this Code.

12. Comply with all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and codes issued by Beaulieu Padel.

13. Comply with all applicable laws, government regulations and public health guidance relevant to participation in the Game.

14. Keep confidential any confidential information obtained through participation, including medical information.

15. Assist Beaulieu Padel in safeguarding children and adults at risk by:

• Maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour.

• Following the Beaulieu Padel Safeguarding Policy.

• Reporting concerns promptly to the Welfare and Safeguarding Officer.

16. Not commit any criminal offence or engage in conduct that could adversely affect the reputation of Beaulieu Padel, the Game or its participants.

17. Not participate while under the influence of illegal drugs or prohibited substances (except prescribed medication required for legitimate medical treatment).

18. Comply with all reasonable directions given by Beaulieu Padel, the LTA or appointed officials.

19. Cooperate fully with any investigation conducted by Beaulieu Padel, the LTA or any governing body.

20. Uphold both the spirit and intent of this Code of Conduct.

Additional Standards for Players

Players must:

1. Act honestly, fairly and with integrity, including when making line calls.

2. Respect the authority and decisions of officials.

3. Never hit, kick or throw a ball, racket or equipment violently, dangerously or with intent to cause harm or damage.

Additional Standards for Coaches, Parents and Other Player Support Persons

Each parent, coach and Player Support Person must:

1. Be a positive role model by demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and professionalism.

2. Respect the authority and decisions of officials.

3. Refrain from becoming involved in line calls, scoring disputes or engaging negatively with opponents, partners or other participants.

4. Always act in the best interests of the player.

5. Provide constructive feedback while protecting the player's confidence and self-esteem.

6. Involve players in decisions that affect them.

7. Help players deal with both success and disappointment respectfully while encouraging responsibility and independence.

8. Discourage the use of prohibited substances or illegal drugs.

Additional Standards for Coaches and Other Player Support Persons

(excluding parents, guardians and family members)

They must:

1. Be aware of power imbalances between themselves and players.

2. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, including online and through social media.

3. Ensure any physical contact is appropriate, necessary and carried out with consent.

4. Avoid situations that could reasonably be viewed as inappropriate.

5. Avoid being alone with children or adults at risk unless necessary for the proper delivery of coaching or professional services.

6. Deliver services appropriate to each player's age, development and long-term welfare.

7. Accurately represent their qualifications, affiliations and experience.

Additional Standards for Coaches

Coaches must:

1. Fully engage in all required training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and deliver coaching to the highest professional standard.

2. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, professional appearance and ensure all coaching equipment is safe and in good condition.
